About The Famous English Photographer - Raymond Roscoe

Think of the prestige associated with your special day. Born and raised in Liverpool, England, home of the Beatles, cousin to Ringo Starr, photographer of many celebrities.

With over 25 years of  experience in commercial photography, press-agency work and celebrity photography.  After photographing more than 500 weddings in England, there remains the challenge of photographing weddings in the USA and photographing them with a English / American style that combines formal and informal shots of the wedding party. It is my intention to provide you with a record of that special day that you will be proud of for years to come and as a heritage to pass on to your children and grandchildren.

After all the photographs have been taken I will be more than happy  to mingle  with the guests and answer any question they may have regarding Liverpool, the Beatles or England.

The roll of a Wedding Photographer

Wedding photographs are vitally important moments in the lives of a newly married couple. Moments that will not and cannot ever be repeated. It is for this reason that the photographer have a friendly and warm personality that is able to make the couple and the rest of the bridal party feel comfortable and at ease on their special day. It is essential that the photographer be experienced, reliable and provide the couple with a wedding album that tells the story of their special day and something they will treasure for the rest of their lives.

Capturing a precious moment on film can be a daunting task for many people, even photographers. Knowing when to take the photograph, how to set up a photograph, when lighting and other conditions are just right and when facial expressions are at their best takes artistic ability and more importantly experience. My aim, therefore, is to

"capture that special moment at it's best."

Planning

You will both be consulted as to any special photographs that you may wish to be taken. Prior to the wedding day a visit will be made to the location/s and notes will be taken in order to ascertain and evaluate the best positions, lighting and angles for your photographs. Layout of trees, flowers, bushes, etc. are all taken into account in order to be able to take full advantage of them when the subject or setting demands it. Most of the photographs are duplicated to ensure that nobody is blinking, looking away, etc. something which the vast majority of photographers will not do because of "the additional costs", additional costs which are very minimal. For over 25 years I have worked on this principal.

Each setting is analyzed and where it is called for special filters will be used to soften, fog, etc. so as to take full advantage of any surrounding elements, conditions or plant-life which a particular shot could benefit from. Before each photograph is taken, each person in the bridal party is positioned correctly something which the vast majority of professional photographers fail to do simply because they see it as unimportant. For example:

  • The bride should always be on her husband's left. This goes back to the days when the man would protect his bride with his left hand while warding off any danger with his right hand, his stronger arm.
  • The best man should always be on the Groom's right as he is his right hand man.
  • When the bride is being given to her future husband, she should always be on right of the one giving her so that she is then on her future husband's left before the wedding ceremony.

Mixing in with the formal photographs will be informal and candid. This is known as a "Journalist Wedding". Such photographs are not charged for separately as is the case with the majority of photographers, but are included in the price you pay. It is these particular photographs that compliment the rest of your photographs and therefore bring your wedding album to life.

Such attention to detail ensures that your wedding has been thoughtfully planned out and produced by someone who wants the best for you and who takes pride in their work.
